PPE Inspections
PPE Inspection Info
PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) Inspections are important to help keep you, your employees, sub contractors and site visitors safe.
What is Included?
We thoroughly inspect personal protective equipment, including work position harnesses, lanyards and RPE to identify and remedy damage or deterioration before it becomes a health risk.
Checking PPE
All parts of a personal fall-protection system should be subject to an inspection regime that includes pre-use checks and periodic detailed examinations.
There are a wide range of possible causes of degradation of the materials used in lanyards and harnesses, including abuse, general wear and tear, edge/surface damage, exposure to UV, dirt, grit and chemicals to name a few. Textiles also deteriorate slowly with age regardless of use.

Inspections
PRE-USE CHECKS
Visual inspections should be carried out on lanyards and harnesses before each use by the user who should have received appropriate training to enable them to do this.
DETAILED INSPECTION
These are the same as the pre-use checks but carried out by a competent person at a set period. These checks must be documented and the documents kept.
INTERIM INSPECTION
These are additional detailed inspections. The need for and frequency of interim inspections will depend on the use and the environment. Examples of situations where they may be appropriate include: arduous working environments involving sharp edges that may cause damage, paints, chemicals, grit blasting operations and acidic or alkaline environments. The results of interim inspections should be recorded and kept.
